It's always a thrill to get one's hands on an impressive album that no one knows about, and "This Side of the Green Arrow" is a gorgeous collection of soul-stretching songs...This is an album that listeners can dig into like a good book...of the many highly-hyped albums that rose and fell in 2006, it's a shame that "This Side of the Green Arrow" got overlooked. "...tranquil piano and acoustic guitar, discreet percussions, but there is an underlying tension. Contributing to the somber and tense mood is Daniel Rogers’ lead vocals…reminds me of Roger Waters…[the album] is very well produced and the performances and compositions are very good…Daniel Rogers is a musician to keep an eye on, for sure." The songs on ["This Side of the Green Arrow"] are rather good...Rogers has a very good voice; conveying emotions small and large alike easily and with a great deal of professionalism. The musicians contributing here have a high standard as well; and the album has an excellent production. Overall this is an interesting release as well as a very promising debut, and should be a release worth checking out by fans of mellow music in general and fans of art rock in particular. ["This Side of the Green Arrow"] is a dark but beautiful debut CD from an amazing Ohio artist. The voice alone could force an emotional response from the dead. Blend that with some creative home production and crafty musicianship and you're looking at an amazing product.
Daniel Rogers makes music that is daring, outside the box, and almost like aural wallpaper you can SEE floating out of your speaker. From the first groovy vocoder voice on cut #1 [of "This Side of the Green Arrow"], I knew I was in for a magical musical journey. I really like Daniel's ethereal sound and look forward to finding new ways to use it in my film soundtracks.
Daniel Rogers scored my first movie, "Chillicothe," and aside from being a great friend, he’s a great artist. [For "Hoodwinked"] we needed a piece that would be sentimental without going sappy, and Daniel is the go-to guy for such a thing. He’s a big Pink Floyd fan, and I love that he brought this flavor to our soundtrack.
It's such a pleasure to work with an artist who has so much passion for his music. [With "This Side of the Green Arrow"] Rogers has created something really unique—atmospheric and timeless, with an immediacy that is impossible to ignore.
Inspired! And inspiring. From childhood to manhood and back, from a battle with infinite choice to a wrestling match with time, from psychological paralysis to emotional liberation, "This Side of the Green Arrow" is a feast for the ears, yet also replete with evocative cinematic imagery. I love the variety and unpredictability of the songs. That’s rare in music these days, and hard to pull off, but Daniel did it. It’s totally original and fresh. And the songs go right to the heart of matters that feel very personal to me.
An astounding find! ["This Side of the Green Arrow"] has such a timeless quality about it. A strange, beautiful mix of retro and progressive. Sit back and let the images fill your mind.

I would just like to say I have instantly become an avid fan because of the song Little Boat out of the motion picture Hoodwinked. I hope more of the public begins to enjoy your music as much I do.

I heard your song “Little Boat” in the movie "Hoodwinked". I think it is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. You paint a fabulous music picture...a picture that grows every time I hear the song. You keep amazing me. I have always listened a lot to “Little Boat”, “The Tempest,” and “The Traveler”. But then the other day I heard the song “All is Even”, and it struck me that in this song I could hear elements from both The Beatles and Pink Floyd.

I just got done listening to ["This Side of the Green Arrow"] around 20 times. The music has travelled to CD players in my house, office and car. I cannot get some of the tunes out of my head, from the catchy but compelling "Future Man", to the sad and beautiful "Irrigators". His lyrics appear genuine and his voice, heartfelt. It is amazing how comfortable Daniel Rogers transitions musically throughout the entire CD while maintaining thematic continuity. Simply beautiful.

What to say about ["This Side of the Green Arrow"]? Inspiring, rich, depth, true! Somehow after listening to the words and music I feel touched very deeply and less alone. The music and lyrics are complex, original, daring, and outside the box. It makes me want to write some music too. Whoever doesn't buy this CD is missing out.

If it's possible for something to be simultaneously sexy and earthy, ["This Side of the Green Arrow"] is it! A terrific range of musical and everyday sounds come together and evoke a matching variety of emotions. It's wonderful instrumentation coupled with a lead voice that's incredibly clear without compromising expressiveness.
- Emily from Columbus
My boyfriend and I are in a long-distance relationship, and he had seen Hoodwinked and told me I had to watch it, and I especially had to listen for the song "Little Boat". We both love it, it's a special song between us...

After hearing Daniel Rogers' unique voice and music on the Hoodwinked soundtrack, I checked out his website and bought ["This Side of the Green Arrow"]. The music is great for relaxing and candlelight, but after a while your eyelids are going to get heavy. Don't drive and try to listen to this CD! On the plus side, Rogers' voice and style of music is unique and interesting, his voice soothing and passive. On the downside, there is a track in the middle of the CD that is just a bunch of sound effects or studio noise? Anyway, check out the CD!

["Little Boat"] is the most amazing song. I have to admit, I'm a 36 year old mom and I bought the Hoodwinked CD for myself. The whole CD is awesome, but "Little Boat" is amazing...I just want to thank you for that song. I cry every time I hear it. It reminds me of my grandma who passed away. I listened to it over and over and over for months and months and months after she died. I love it so much.
